Update November 16th, 2011
Hello Friends,
Thank you all for the tremendous amount of support that
we have been shown this year. After qualifying and
having our entries accepted at Devon in May we thought
that this year would be full of horse showing and traveling
about the country side like years past. However, this year
was a year for learning and sitting back to reflect on just
what truly matters, the love of horses - not only the horse
showing.
This spring was a time for a lot of change. We sold our
dear Excess Baggage to a younger professional who
has been showing him in 1.20-30m Mini Prix's and loving
our boy like no other. We couldn't have been more happy
to know he has gone to a great home.
Also, this spring Jim Paxson's 6 Year Old, La Grange
was sideline after coming in from the paddock bruising
and hurting his entire off side. After some R&R he came
back to show in several 1.20m classes, jumping the
moon and we are very hopeful to come back into 2012
stronger than ever.
My own, Ganowe 2 also managed to hurt himself
requiring 12 stitches in his pastern, several weeks off
and then got a bad abscess which sidelined him until
mid July. With the help of Elena Oliveri we got the old
man fit and ready to go for the Brandywine Series 1.40m
Mini Prix as our first step back into the ring since the
Columbia Benefit Grand Prix 2010. From July to
September we showed and placed almost every time
out. Ganowe has transformed into a wonderful partner
and I have enjoyed each moment I share with him.
My other dear girl, Judge Beautiful was brought out of a
semi retirement to compete in the Berk's County
Puissance where she was only second to Ganowe at
5'3". What a dear, sweet, loving animal she is. I'm happy
to say now that Christine Cowan has adopted her as he
own after the unexpected death of her sweet Mrs. Peanut
mini pony. Mrs. Peanut was one of the characters at the
barn here at Greenfield's. After a bought of colic she was
sadly put to sleep. There will never been another Mrs.
Peanut and I can speak for all that she was truly loved
and will be forever missed.
This summer we held a fantastic two day clinic with Jim
Paxson and Marilyn Mitchell. Attendance was great, and
there was much to be learned from the two greats! We
also, started 8 young horses off the track, all between the
ages of 3 and 4. With a bit of pride, I can say that most all
were sold to new careers and are fox hunting, showing,
or eventing.
Fox hunting is a very big part of the Greenfield's
traditions. Many of our students hunt at least once if not 4
days a week with the River Hills Foxhounds,
Monday-Wednesday-Friday-Saturday (www.rhfpa.com).
The plan this winter is to keep horses fit and fresh fox
hunting as the weather permits, and prepping for 2012
showing by going to the indoor winter series horse
shows. Don't forget!!!! 2012 is the London Olympics...
wave the red, white & blue and don't forget to support
your USET!
Thats all for now! Keep posted ;-)
Cheers - Priscilla
