Name: Elena Olivieri DOB: January 28, 1993 Hometown: Oxford School: Oxford Area High School, Class of 2011. Hoping to go to Princeton or Harvard Medical someday! When did you start riding: at the age of 8 What are your first memories of riding: I remember the very first pony I rode, his name was Buck Jr. and he was the best pony ever. I also remember that I could not figure out how to change direction when I first got on, it took me a while...hahaha. Tell us about your first horse/pony: My first real horse is Calli, and she's fantastic, but I always considered Cadmar to be my first horse. I leased him for a year or two, and even though he was 25 he was the BEST horse you could ever have. He had so much spunk and personality, and he always remembered his racing days. Calli is such a good girl, she's so talented and she's learning very quickly and becoming a really classy horse. What do you enjoy most about horses: How they have such distinct personalities. There are no two horses that are alike. They're all so lovable, even the grumpy ones, because they're all unique and there's something to love about each one. What words of wisdom would you give to others: Keep a cool head. Your horse doesn't always understand what they've done wrong, and getting angry isn't going to help them understand any more. Do you enjoy any other hobbies outside of horses: I love music! I'm in band at school and I've been playing the piano since I've been riding horses. What are your 2010 goals: To continue climbing the ladder to making myself and my horse a winning team. What are your long term goals? To bring Calli up to her full potential and kick butt :)
