| Lindsay Christine Jones DOB: December 18, 1987 Hometown: Landenberg, Pa Where do you go to school and what do you want to do with your education? “I go to Penn State University and I am a finance major. I guess I am supposed to graduate and have a financial related career but my goal is to have a horse farm someday instead.” How long have you been riding? “Fifteen years..I begged my parents for months before they would let me start riding. When I was five I started taking lessons at Greenfields and I haven’t stopped riding since!” What is your first memory from riding? “Getting my first pony for Christmas from Santa!.. and then being bucked off of her every day of my life haha. I can’t be mad at her though because that’s what made me a tough little rider!” Up to this point, what are some of the accomplishments from your riding career? “I’ve won many ribbons and awards over the years with numerous different horses. I never seemed to have the same horse for longer than a year, but I feel very fortunate that I had so many different opportunities on different horses. I learned something new from every single horse I rode. My favorite pony ever was Pickles (now known as Corragioso). He was a pain in the butt when I first started training him, but we gave each other the confidence to being our pony jumper careers and move up from schooling shows to rated shows. We even competed at HITS in Ocala where we won several ribbons in the pony jumper ring, and Pickles found a new mommy to give confidence to. To make a long story short, I guess my biggest accomplishment is learning everything I know now and seeing the progress in each and every horse I work with.” What do you enjoy most about horses? “No matter how bad my day is going or how sick I am, all I have to do is step foot into the barn and the horses instantly make me better. There’s something magical about the way a horse makes you feel.” What words of wisdom would you give others? “No matter how frustrated you are, never give up! If you give up every time things get tough, you will never get anywhere. Also, always set goals for yourself that are challenging and make you work harder. The harder you work the more you will achieve.” Do you enjoy any other hobbies outside of riding? “I can’t think of any off the top of my head. I just can’t wait to graduate and be able to ride and fox hunt everyday!” |
