What are your first memories of riding:
I rode a Black Shetland pony named Dolly.  She
was the barn owner’s daughters pony.  She
stopped riding her when she fell off and broke her
arm.  She just hung out in the fields for years.  So
with no experience or professional training I
started to ride the pony.  We had a great time
trial riding and doing Gymkhanas together; we
even won some.  She was fast and loved to run,
but not always to stop.  She taught me how to do
an emergency stop with tight circles.  We would go
swimming at a place we called Flat Rock too.  The
first time we went swimming she kept her nose
under water and I had to hold it up for her. She
was my best friend for a couple of years and I was
very sad when she was sold and my parents could
not afford to buy her for me.  I still have some of
her tail and mane that I cut off before she left.
When did you start riding: When I was 12 years old.
Tell us about your first horse/pony:
See above. Dolly was not owned by me, but
in spirit she was mine.
What do you enjoy
most about horses:
The partnership that you
develop with them and their
smell:  nothing smells better.
What words of wisdom
would you give to others:
95% of the time when horses
don’t do something for you,
it is because you are
not asking correctly.
Do you enjoy any other hobbies
outside of horses: I love being
outside.  I like to hike when I
find time.
What are your 2010 goals:
To drive Peanut a Hundred hours and get
in the American Driving Society paper.

What are your long term goals?
To grow old with my horses.
Current Horses:  Paintin and Peanut

I have owned Paintin since he was 5 yrs old.  I use to take lesson on him from Marilyn.  He was
bought from Greenfields and continues to do lessons in their program. He has the patience of Job.

Peanut I bought as a yearling.  She is such a love bug and she sure can be a mare.  She is the
complete opposite of Paintin. She has just learned to drive a cart in the past year and is doing great.
