Saran Singh
When did you start riding?
When I was 11 years old

What is your first memory of being around horses
and riding?
I had taken a few lessons at a farm that was near
my house, they had a few horses, but then I came
to Greenfield’s. I remember riding Chocolate
Kiss, and I remember always running to the ‘red
desk’ hoping that I would ride Kiss in my lessons!

Tell us about your first pony:
Haha, Lampy, I feel like she tried to kill me, a lot!
However I did learn a lot, and I learned how to
stay on, and never give up. She made me tough!

What do you enjoy most about being around and
working with horses?
Everything! Horses just make everything better!
You can be having the worst day and when you
get to the barn with your horse, you don’t have to
talk about anything, they just make you start
feeling better. Horses give you the strength that
you can’t always find in yourself!

What words of advice would
you give to someone just
starting out?
Riding is one of the greatest
things you can do for
yourself. Riding helps you
relate to everything in life,
and gives you the confidence
to know you can really do
anything.

2010 goals:
To sell my first project pony
(Rhyme) and start Chevy in
more jumper shows and keep
getting more experience.

My long term goals will be to
compete in the Adult Jumper
Division and see how far I
can go!

Tell Everyone About Your Ponies:
My Lil Red Corvette:
I got Chevy when I was 15 years old, and he was just turning 3 years old.
Chevy has been one of my greatest friends; he fox hunts, trail rides, does
hunters, and jumpers. He will do anything that I ask of him. Last year (2009)
we were Champion at the Lewisville Jumper Show in the Level 1 Division, we
were also 3rd at Duncraven in a Level 2 Power & Speed Class, and we
finished up the show season with a 6th in the Pony Classic at C.C.J.S. I really
think he is the perfect pony and I don’t think I will ever grow out of him.

I got my project pony ‘Rhyme’ in August of 2009. Rhyme has a great
personality. He is always fun to be around and really enjoys working in the
ring and learning new things. He has made the step into training very easy
and a lot of fun. I hope to be able to sell him to a new home where he can
continue to grow and learn with a new little rider.

Fox Hunting: I started fox hunting with
the River Hills Foxhounds in the 2009
Cubbing Season. I think that the best
way to describe hunting is that you feel
free, and the feeling you get from your
horse is that they feel free and that
this is what they are meant to do.
After a day of hunting you also see the
outside world totally different than
most people and you feel closer to
nature, closer to your horse, and you
just start to see all the little things in
life.
